A substation is the most consequential piece of electrical infrastructure most facilities own. Carleton Electric has built, tested, and maintained substations in Ottawa since 1988. We work as a single trusted contractor on new builds and as a long term partner on ongoing maintenance contracts.
We deliver substation projects across healthcare, education, federal government, and high security manufacturing. New build, transformer replacement, switchgear testing, condition assessment, and recurring primary maintenance contracts are all routine for us.
- New substation construction and commissioning
- Substation primary and secondary maintenance
- Transformer testing and oil sampling
- Vault maintenance and condition assessment
- Switchgear testing to NETA standards
- Coordination with Hydro Ottawa-owned equipment
Every high voltage job we take on starts with a written method of procedure, a single point of contact, and a Hydro Ottawa coordination plan. Switching plans are reviewed and our Hydro Ottawa coordination is locked in before the lift gate comes off the truck.
We document every step. Switching logs, lockout records, test reports, and updated as-built drawings are all delivered as part of the standard handoff package. Your facility engineering team needs the documentation for capital records. Your insurer needs it for the policy. We deliver it standard.
If you are planning a medium voltage or high voltage project, send us the scope. We will respond with a sober assessment, a Hydro Ottawa coordination plan, and a real estimate.
