Medium voltage switchgear replacement
Replacing a forty-year-old 4.16 kV lineup at a working acute-care hospital where nothing electrical can stay offline. The site needed new switchgear, a new double-ended substation, and a full load transfer without disrupting clinical operations. The main changeover was completed in a single weekend.
Removed original 4.16 kV lineup (eight oil circuit breakers); replaced with new switchgear and station batteries
New double-ended substation with two 1,333 kVA transformers and new distribution switchboard
Replaced 800 amp switchboard, 225 kVA transformer, and power factor correction capacitors
PILC tech trifurcating splices and Raychem type terminations
All 600 V and 208 V loads cut into respective panels
Main changeover completed in one weekend
