Medium voltage switchgear replacement
Complete switchgear replacement at one of the country security-sensitive facilities, involving both Hydro Ottawa-owned and customer-owned gear with new primary duct banks, manholes, and feeds to existing transformers. Working alongside Hydro Ottawa on shared equipment requires a level of utility coordination most contractors do not have. The changeover was completed in a single weekend.
Removed existing 4.16 kV outdoor switchgear
Removed 13.2 kV medium voltage switchgear with two Hydro Ottawa loop switches, one medium voltage breaker complete with protective relays, metering, potential and current transformers, and two fusible loadbreak switches
Replaced with Hydro-owned Vista four-way switchgear and customer-owned Vista three-way switchgear
Designed and installed all primary duct banks, manholes, bases, and customer-owned primary wiring to existing transformers
Changeover completed in one weekend
