Infrared Scanning

A loose lug or a degraded breaker contact runs warm. Then warmer. Then it fails. Infrared thermal scanning catches that failure on camera weeks or months before it takes a building down. Carleton Electric scans hospitals, universities, and industrial facilities across the Ottawa-Kingston corridor.

Predictive thermography for critical facilities

Our trained thermographers scan live electrical equipment for temperature anomalies on connections, breakers, terminations, transformer bushings, and bus work. Scans run against last year baseline to make trends visible. Every report includes the visible light photo, the thermal image, the temperature delta, the load at scan time, and recommended action.

  • Thermographic inspection of panels, breakers, and switchgear
  • Annual scans for insurance and capital planning
  • Findings reports with photographs, temperatures, and recommended action
  • Coordinated with primary or secondary maintenance contracts
  • Standalone scans for buildings under any maintenance arrangement

Every high voltage job we take on starts with a written method of procedure, a single point of contact, and a Hydro Ottawa coordination plan. Switching plans are reviewed and our Hydro Ottawa coordination is locked in before the lift gate comes off the truck.

We document every step. Switching logs, lockout records, test reports, and updated as-built drawings are all delivered as part of the standard handoff package. Your facility engineering team needs the documentation for capital records. Your insurer needs it for the policy. We deliver it standard.

If you are planning a medium voltage or high voltage project, send us the scope. We will respond with a sober assessment, a Hydro Ottawa coordination plan, and a real estimate.
